Hari Mahidhar was born in 1942 in Mandvi, Kutch, Gujarat. He graduated from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in 1963. At the age of 22 he started photography as a press photographer with Nai Duniya Hindi Daily at Jabalpur, where he worked for two years. Then for another two years he assisted Mitter Bedi in Mumbai before joining MCM Advertising Agency, again he worked for two years and then was retainer with Audio Multi Track which was specializing in audio – visuals. Here he shot for Oberoi Hotels in India, Nepal & Singapore. Then for five years he was head of photography at Sistas Advertising before he started as freelance photographer in 1979.

Over the years he has done many assignments for the Governments of Bahrain, Oman and Singapore. He also photographed the monuments of London, Paris, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dubai, Kuwait and UAE. In 1998 he conducted photography workshops for Kodak in Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat and Kuwait.

He has done corporate photography for many industries, like, power, pharmaceuticals, metal, mines, dairy, electrical, electronics, textile, automobiles, fertilizers, shipbuilding, aircraft, cement, etc. Also, aerial photography for Indian Navy, Reliance, Nocil, Bayer, JNPT, Kandla, Mazgaon docks, etc.

He has exhibited his photography prints in many group shows at NCPA, Hacienda Art Gallery, Nehru Centre, Jehangir Art Gallery, Tangent Art Gallery, Kitab Mahal, Point of View, Canon Image Lounge and Gallery BMB. His two solo shows have been in Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2012) and Fine Arts Gallery, Kolkata (2013).

His pictures have been printed in many books and catalogues, like, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (Formerly Prince of Wales Museum of Western India), Air India art collection, Churches and convents of Goa, Bombay Gothic, etc.

Currently he is brand ambassador for Sony cameras in India.
